What went down

Today was only the 29th sports equinox – when all four big North American sports leagues (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB) have a game – in history. The NBA had a full slate with a couple of bangers.

The closest contest of the day was the last game on the schedule with the Los Angeles Lakers escaping the Orlando Magic.

The young Magic had most of the game under control until LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell took over late in the fourth quarter.

It’s been a rocky start for the retooled Lakers with this being their second win. With LeBron James all out of all-time leaderboards to climb, Los Angeles has to find other ways to justify their top billing this season.

Out East, the Milwaukee Bucks built a big lead in the first three quarters and staved off a late run from the Miami Heat to secure their second win in three games.

The Bucks were up by 24 points late in the third quarter, but the Heat bench chipped away. Nikola Jovic and Tyler Herro got the lead down to eight, 113-105, with three minutes to go. But the Bucks just had too much of their new formula going.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 33 points while Damian Lillard added 25 points and five assists.

Big-time baller

If you know ball, you know that Luka Doncic is the best player on the Dallas Mavericks. Today, the Memphis Grizzlies had nothing for the Slovenian, who dropped a casual 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists.

Through his first three games, Doncic is averaging 39.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 9.7 assists. Though the Mavs still have Kyrie Irving, it’s clear whose magic they’re counting on every game.

What he said

Does Kevin Durant actually like their In-Season Tournament court? You be the judge.

Did you see that?

A little past lunchtime, the annual James Harden trade happened. The Sixers sent the disgruntled star to the Los Angeles Clippers for a package of draft picks and capable veterans.

Extra pass

From tomorrow’s 13-game slate, the Sacramento Kings visiting the Golden State Warriors should be fun. They went toe-to-toe in a seven-game series in the first round of last season’s playoffs with the Warriors needing an all-time performance from Steph Curry to escape the Kings.

They’ve already faced off this season with the Warriors winning in Sacramento off more Curry heroics. Catch tomorrow’s game live on NBA TV Philippines at 10:00 AM.
