What went down
Superstars historically come to Madison Square Garden with their A-game in tow—think Michael Jordan (55 points), Kobe Bryant (61 points), and James Harden (61 points), to name a few. No records were broken in the Miami Heat’s recent visit to New York, yet in true Heat Culture fashion, everybody got to eat.
Six Heat players finished in double figures, with Bam Adebayo keeping it steady with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. The game was pretty much close throughout, so the Heat had to go to full Jimmy-Butler-take-the-wheel mode in the fourth quarter. Butler scored eight of his 17 points to wag off the pesky New York Knicks. He was also an assist shy of a triple-double.
The dagger, however, was delivered by yet another Heat player in Tyler Herro, who hit a catch-and-shoot 3 with over 30 seconds left to seal the deal.

The Knicks’ Julius Randle (26 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists) continued his All-Star run, while Reggie Bullock waxed hot with seven 3s, but those just weren’t enough against the defending East champs.
The Knicks will get another shot at them on Wednesday in Miami.
Big-time baller
De’Aaron Fox grabbed the rebound and ran the length of the floor, zooming past his teammates. He glanced left and right, and seeing he had no friends, decided to pull up for a 3-pointer. With 5:18 left in the game, his Sacramento Kings down two against the Los Angeles Clippers, and with no rebounders in sight, it was an ill-advised shot.
But this is De’Aaron Fox’s world now and we just live in it. The breathtaking 3 was part of Fox’s personal scoring run, where he dropped 12 consecutive points in a crucial five-minute stretch. When the smoke cleared, Fox had 36 points and the W. The Clippers, hours after the game, were reportedly still catching their breath.
