What went down

The Miami Heat clinched a spot in the playoffs after their 129-121 win against the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics played their first game without Jaylen Brown who is out for the season due to a torn ligament in his left wrist. Robert Williams III was also out with a turf toe.

The game was extremely physical from the get-go. Kemba Walker had an injury scare after being shaken up by a collision with Bam Adebayo and came out for a few minutes in the opening quarter. Jimmy Butler, meanwhile, was poked in the eye before the end of the half.

Walker and Evan Fournier both had 17 points to end the half, keeping the Celtics within six points. Walker continued his hot shooting, cutting the lead even further. However, Miami answered back with a 19-7 late push, led by Duncan Robinson, and went ahead by 14 points at the end of the third and eventually got the win.

Tyler Herro was strong off the bench with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Adebayo and Robinson had 22 points each. Butler, who played only 17 minutes, had 13 points along with two rebounds and three assists.

Big-time baller

Michael Porter Jr. tallied his highest scoring half in his young career, by scoring 23 points in the first half against the Hornets on an impressive 71.4 percent from beyond the arc. MPJ’s performance marked his fourth 30-point game in the last 10 outings.

With the win, the Nuggets’ win secures them home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and a franchise record for the best road winning percentage (60.6).

What he said

“I’ve said this before -- if you don’t like [Derrick] Rose, something’s wrong with you.”

Dwyane Wade praised the NBA veteran for the impact he has on the New York Knicks.

“He plays with poise, he plays with patience. He doesn’t use his explosiveness all the time, he only uses it when he needs to. And then he’s a great finisher as well… It’s just great to see a guy at this point of his career, come off the bench and average 20 points a game -- and really be a big, BIG, big key to bring this New York team back to where they are.”

Did you see that?

D’Angelo Russell was so locked in that he didn’t realize he was about to sit on the sign -- and of course, that didn’t end well for him. He had an excellent performance against the Detroit Pistons with 15 points and 10 assists.
