The Grizzlies finally broke into the win column after a 0-6 start, while Kevin Durant’s 41 led the Suns to a victory over the Pistons.

Scoreboard

Mavericks 124, Hornets 118

Suns 120, Pistons 106

Raptors 123, Spurs 116

Cavaliers 115, Warriors 104

Grizzlies 112, Trail Blazers 100

What went down

The Grizzlies finally barged into the win column with a gutsy victory over the Trail Blazers. Desmond Bane had a game-high 30 points alongside eight rebounds and five assists. He was backstopped by Jaren Jackson Jr. who tallied 27 points and seven boards. Memphis lost its first six games before breaking through.

The slow start by the Grizzles can largely be attributed to the loss of star Ja Morant who is still serving his 25-game suspension. Can they hold the fort before the return of their All-Star?

Big-time baller

Kevin Durant scored a season-high 41 points to lead the Suns past the Pistons. He went 14-of-29 from the field and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the line. He also contributed four rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and a steal.

Phoenix was without its two other stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Injuries have hit this super team but with KD, they always have a fighting chance to come out on top.

What he said

Draymond Green got hit in the groin by Jarrett Allen while they were battling for the rebound. Green, who has his share of incidental contacts, shares his thoughts after the game:

Did you see that?

Sad news came out of the Pelicans camp on Monday. Let’s hope CJ is okay!

Extra Pass

James Harden will make his season debut as a member of the LA Clippers tomorrow. Fittingly, he will mark his return in the Mecca of basketball, Madison Square Garden, against the New York Knicks.

Harden was recently part of a massive trade that sent him away from the messy situation in Philadelphia to Los Angeles. The former MVP joins a Clippers team already loaded with talent in Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Russell Westbrook.

The Knicks hope to spoil the Beard’s debut led by star point guard Jalen Brunson. The crafty playmaker fired 45 points in a losing effort in his previous game. With all the firepower from both squads, expect an offensive showcase when they collide.

The Clippers take on the Knicks at 8:30 AM on NBA League Pass.
