What went down
Luka Doncic scored 32 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out 15 assists as the Dallas Mavericks outlasted the Milwaukee Bucks, 118-112. Doncic was instrumental for his squad in the fourth quarter, scoring or assisting when needed.
The Mavs also got a huge boost from Dwight Powell and his double-double outing of 22 points and 13 rebounds. He also converted on a crucial and-1 play with less than six minutes remaining to help Dallas maintain its lead.
For Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 28 points and 10 boards. The Bucks allowed their opponents to shoot 51.3 percent from the field.
The win by the Mavericks was their 49th of the season as they sit in fourth place in the West. The Bucks, meanwhile, are stuck in a log jam for spots 2-4 out in the East with their 48-30 record. They are tied with the Sixers and trail the Celtics’ record by half a game.
Big-time ballers
Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic put up gaudy numbers for their respective teams. Just check out these stats:
- Embiid versus the Cavs: 44 points, 12-for-26 field goals, 17-for-20 free throws, three 3-pointers, 17 rebounds, three assists, and five blocks.
- Jokic versus the Lakers: 38 points, 15-for-22 field goals, 8-for-11 free throws, 18 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks.
