Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook carried the LeBron-less Lakers past the Spurs, while the Jazz cruised past the Nuggets to go 3-0.

Scoreboard

Knicks 112, 76ers 99

Warriors 106, Thunder 98

Mavericks 116, Rockets 106

Lakers 125, Spurs 121 (OT)

Jazz 122, Nuggets 110

What went down

The tussle between the two Goliaths of the West, the Jazz and the Nuggets, didn't go quite as planned but it wasn’t short of drama and fireworks. Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic had a knee-to-knee collision with Rudy Gobert, forcing him to miss the second half and log just 15 minutes. He had it going with 24 points, hitting eight of his nine shots, plus six rebounds and six assists. Without him, the Jazz capitalized on the short-handed Nuggets and pulled away. No need to panic Nuggets fans as Jokic tried to return into the game but the coaching staff thought it was best to rest their superstar.

Things went spicy in the fourth when JaMychal Green and Hassan Whiteside went pushing and shoving underneath the basket. Both were ejected.

The Jazz had seven players finishing in double figures. Gobert feasted on the Jokic-less lineup and finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds for the Jazz, who are now 3-0.

Big-time ballers

With LeBron James out with a sore ankle, the Lakers' two other stars showed out to get their second win of the season.

Anthony Davis had a huge double-double of 35 points and 17 rebounds, as well as four assists and four blocks. Russell Westbrook, meanwhile, registered his best game so far wearing the purple and gold with a near triple-double performance of 33 points, 10 boards, and eight assists. He also shot 15-for-27 from the field and added three steals.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, AD and Russ accounted for 91 (scored or assisted) of LA's 125 points.

What he said

BING BONG!

Evan Fournier giving a shoutout to the viral video of Knicks fans going gaga is comedy. I guess "Bing Bong" is going to be a thing for New York basketball this season.

Did you see that?

Coach ‘Bron sounds about right. He even got that matching gray going on with the other coaches.
