What went down
The Boston Celtics had enough firepower to hold off a win against the Los Angeles Clippers, 117-112.
The Clippers hardly missed Kawhi Leonard, who was out because of back spasms, riding on the shoulders of Paul George, who ended with 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists. LA had chances to steal the game late in the fourth quarter, but George was unable to deliver when it mattered, missing 1-of-7 shots to end the game.
Boston, on the other hand, got a much-needed boost from Kemba Walker, who led the squad with 25 points, as young star Jason Tatum only hit 5-of-16 field goals. The Celtics have now won three straight games after going on a three-game losing streak.
Big-time baller
Nikola Jokic tallied his 50th career triple-double, grabbing 37 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to lead the Denver Nuggets past Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks.
Just how impressive is Jokic’s triple-double milestone? Well, the great Wilt Chamberlain needed 703 games to reach the 50-mark. The Joker needed only 416 games.

What he said
Spurs coach Gregg Poppovich talked about pressing issues beyond basketball in their post-game interview.
“It’s a mystifying decision. It puts a lot of businesses in a tough spot, I think. They’re trying to do a good job keeping everybody safe, of course they want to open up, but getting rid of masks just seems ignorant to me.”
This statement comes after Texan Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order to lift the mask mandate and open Texas to 100 percent during the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We already went through this once, and we’re going to do it again… That’s not the way to do it. This is really ridiculous,” said Poppovich.
