What went down

The Boston Celtics lost two overtime thrillers early in the season to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but today they were able to get a 117-113 win.

It was a back-and-forth affair between the two clubs in the first two quarters with Cleveland only trailing by three after the first half of action. Boston then wasted no time blowing that lead open during the third quarter where they scored 41 big points compared to Cleveland’s 26.

Celtics opened with a 7-0 run to build up a double-digit lead, 62-52, which was followed by 3-pointers from Al Horford and Marcus Smart and an and-1 play from Jayson Tatum. As soon as they got that lead, they easily got their groove on to snatch the victory.

Tatum scored 18 points in the pivotal third canto, finishing the match with 41 points. With his 20th career 40-point game, Tatum surpassed Giannis Antetokounmpo for seventh place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list for players under 25. Horford also scored a season-best 23 points on 8-for-10 shooting.

These two helped outmatch fellow All-Star Donovan Mitchell, who scored 44 points after getting sidelined due to a scary fall in the third quarter. Darius Garland still kept it going for the Cavs as he finished with 29 markers.

Big-time ballers

Kevin Durant made his highly anticipated debut for the Phoenix Suns against the Hornets in Charlotte on Wednesday night. Durant had been sidelined since early January with a knee injury, and the last time he played in a game, he was still a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Kevin Durant scored 23 points in his first game with the Suns as they got away with the W in Charlotte. Devin Booker led the way for them with 37 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

What he said

KD is being realistic with his return to basketball with his new team. It won’t be long until he gets comfortable alongside Booker and the others.

Austin Reaves gets crafty under the net to help the Lakers pull away with the win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finished the game with 19 points and four assists.
