The development regarding Paul George is just the latest blow to what has been a bitterly disappointing season for the Philadelphia Sixers.

Paul George’s injury-riddled first season with the Philadelphia 76ers may likely come to an early end.

The Sixers announced that the 34-year-old is expected to miss at least six weeks after receiving injections to his left knee and abductor muscles.

That means George, who missed the last two weeks with recurring groin soreness, is almost certain not to return this season, with the Sixers (23-44) currently in 12th spot in the East and are five games out of the Play-In tournament.

It was the latest setback to what is already a disappointing season for Philadelphia, who already shut down former MVP Joel Embiid for the rest of the season due to lingering knee issues last February.

Star guard Tyrese Maxey also had to deal with injuries and missed a total of 15 games for the Sixers.

In their first season together, the trio of Embiid, George, and Maxey only played 10 games together as Philly went 7-3 in that stretch.

Earlier, rookie sensation Jared McCain underwent a season-ending surgery after suffering a lateral tear in his left meniscus.

George, who averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists, played a total of just 41 games– the fewest contests he suited up since the 2021-22 season.

It’s also the fifth time in six years he's played fewer than 60 games.
