The Thunder will be without their star guard for Monday's (PHT) game against the Mavericks while rookie Josh Giddey returns after clearing protocols.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has entered the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols, per official league report on Sunday (PHT).

The news comes off the Thunder’s 95-80 victory against the Knicks on Saturday (PHT) in which Gilgeous-Alexander played a team-high 34 minutes and scored 23 points. He returned after sitting out one game on Thursday (PHT) due to ankle soreness.

Gilgeous-Alexander will miss the Thunder’s next game on Monday (PHT) against the Dallas Mavericks. He joins coach Mark Daigneault and three other Oklahoma City players currently in league protocols.

In better news for the Thunder, star rookie Josh Giddey has cleared protocols since being placed on Dec. 28 and subsequently missing two games.

The reigning NBA Western Conference Player of the Week, Gilgeous-Alexander has been an absolute stud for the Thunder this season, averaging 22.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists in his third season with the team.
