What went down
Sacramento finally came out on top of their bout against the defending champs Golden State.
The Kings defeated the visiting Warriors on Sunday night, 122-115, marking a big comeback victory after their late collapse last October 24 when GSW outlasted them in the final stretch.
Of course, we expected the Dubs to push for an offensive onslaught and give the Kings a close fight. It took four deadlocks and nine lead changes to determine the winner of this game and we can owe the win to Sacramento’s 12-2 run in the closing four minutes. It was a huge recovery as they overcame a game-high 15-point lead by Golden State.
The Kings shot 52 percent from the field and 42 percent from the rainbow area while they contained Stephen Curry and the rest of GSW to only 47 percent from the field and 34 percent from the 3.
Curry remained elite and led his squad with 27 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while Andrew Wiggins followed it up with 26 points, four rebounds, and two steals. The trusty secondary guard Jordan Poole came off the bench and produced 18 points.
Domantas Sabonis had a fiery performance for Sacramento with a double-double of 26 points and 22 rebounds, accompanied by eight assists. His young teammates De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, and Kevin Huerter meanwhile filled up their box scores with 22, 21, and 17 points respectively.
Big-time ballers
It was a historic night for the Thunder as Josh Giddey recorded 24 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only player in NBA history to get triple-doubles in their first two matches at Madison Square Garden. Joel Embiid meanwhile made easy work of the visiting Utah Jazz with a career-high 59-point performance, scoring 26 of his points in the last quarter.
Los Angeles Lakers also had a good night as they notched a win behind Anthony Davis’ 37 points, 18 rebounds, and two assists.
