Chris Paul will sign a huge four-year deal for up to $120 million that will keep him with the Phoenix Suns until he’s 40, Yahoo’s Chris Haynes and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Paul, 36, averaged 16.4 points and 8.9 assists in his first season with the Suns, helping them reach The Finals for the first time since 1993 and only the third time overall.
The Suns led Milwaukee 2-0 in those Finals before losing the final four games to squander what would have been their first championship.
Despite that setback and Paul’s advancing age, the Suns were eager to maintain the 11-time All-Star’s partnership with budding young stars Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton and coach Monty Williams.
As part of their efforts to maintain the most successful team they’ve had in years, the Suns also reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with backup point guard Cameron Payne.
