The NBA All-Star 2021 festivities left the entire basketball world abuzz, none more so than the Philippines.
Amid the Steph Curry and Damian Lillard logo shots, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s perfect night, and Team LeBron getting crowned anew, Filipinos made a significant splash in All-Star viewership.
Millions of Pinoy fans tuned in to One Sports last March 8 as the Philippines captured 4.18 million viewers, the largest overall reach across all measured international markets.
Filipinos also went to social media to share their excitement about this year’s All-Star events. The NBA Philippines Facebook page became a busy platform for fans to interact and express their love for the game. The NBA All-Star 2021 posts registered more than 125,000 in average reach as well as average impressions — an estimated 20 percent uptick compared to regular posts on the page.
Shaun Ildefonso, in particular, headlined the social media engagement prior to the All-Star Game. The NU Bulldog and SLAM Philippines’ RLY? host asked help from fans to pick his #MyNBAAllStars which turned out to be a big hit. Shaun’s interaction with avid fans listed a total reach of 1.1 million unique users.
During the game itself, Filipinos also had a chance to see some familiar celebrities on the virtual fan boards. Silly faces from Spongecola lead singer Yael Yuzon must have brought smiles to Pinoy fans. And if that was not enough, Karylle made a special cameo as well.

All in all, the NBA Philippines Facebook page became a joyous home for Filipinos hungry for 2021 NBA All-Star content. Posts from influencers about the festivities hit a ballpark range of 50,000 engagements, which outdid regular posts from the page by over 650 percent.
After the Philippines ended up with the biggest average audience in the 2020 NBA Christmas Day games back in December, Filipinos continue to show their unwavering support by being at the forefront of this year’s NBA All-Star viewership.
