Joel Embiid is done for the season.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced that the former league MVP will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to a lingering knee issue.

Furthermore, the team stated that Embiid has been "working with specialists to evaluate the injury further" with the treatment plan and recovery timeline yet to be determined.

The two-time scoring champion has played just 19 games – his fewest since since the 2016-2017 season — this season, averaging 23.8 points, 8. 2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in nearly 30 minutes of play.  .

Embiid’s left knee has been an issue since last season, when he played only 39 games because of a torn meniscus. After undergoing a surgery, he returned in time for Philadelphia’s last five regular season games before a first-round playoff loss to the New York Knicks.

It has been a disappointing season for the Sixers, who came into season having championship aspirations after forming the Big Three of Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George.

But Philly started flat, winning just two of their last eight games as their superstar trio struggled to get healthy and barely shared the floor together.

The Sixers are currently at 20-38 and are two-and-a-half games out of the East Play-In territory. To make matters worse, Philadelphia hasn’t won a game in over a month with a nine-game losing skid.
