Pacers starting guard Malcolm Brogdon, who has played in just three games since Dec. 16, will be out for at least another 10 days in order to rehab a sore right Achilles tendon, the team announced on Sunday (PHT).
Brogdon, whom Indiana acquired via sign-and-trade with Milwaukee in 2019, is averaging 18.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists while shooting a career-low 30.7% from 3-point range this season.
The Pacers have been decimated by injuries in 2021-22. Two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis will miss Saturday’s game at Phoenix with a left ankle sprain, as will Myles Turner (left foot stress reaction), Caris LeVert (sore right calf), T.J. McConnell (Health & Safety Protocols), and T.J. Warren (left navicular fracture).
Indiana earned a stunning win over Golden State on Friday (PHT) despite missing that same contingent, a group that includes the team’s top four scorers, top three rebounders, and top three assist men.
The slew of injuries has clouded the Pacers’ plans ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Several reports had Indiana, on pace for the franchise’s worst record since the 1988-89 season, considering possible changes.
The Pacers entered Sunday’s (PHT) game with a 17-29 mark, third-worst in the Eastern Conference.
