On the Lookout: Will Luka Magic work against the 76ers?

Coming off a win powered by Luka Doncic's clutch shots, the Mavericks are about to get tested by Joel Embiid and the Sixers.

First, a reflection. Luka Doncic’s clutch game is aging beautifully right before our eyes. He’s making it easy for us to forget that he’ll be doing things like draining a big moment step-back 3 for many, many years to come.

In the Dallas Mavericks’ most recent game, this was exactly what Luka did against the Boston Celtics. Twice. If you haven’t seen the clips, close this window right now, head over to the NBA app, and treat yourself to Luka magic. If you have, then close this window right now, head over to the NBA app, and treat yourself to Luka magic again. You deserve it.

Just kidding. You can watch it here:

It’s been the Luka Doncic Show in Dallas, but before making the mistake of calling them the Doncic Mavericks, Jalen Brunson is making a strong case for the Mavs’ second-best player.

That sounds absurd, considering Brunson is fifth in the pecking order of Dallas scorers, but in the last five games, Brunson is averaging 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists per game off the bench. He’s been doing it at an elite level of efficiency (67.6 true shooting percentage) and on a whole new level of confidence.

This brewing Doncic-Brunson connection will be put to the test against the Philadelphia 76ers (8:00 AM on One Sports).

The East conference-leading Sixers have their own version of a Brunson in Shake Milton, but missed games and overall inconsistency from the bench have dwindled the spark.

Good thing Tobias Harris, who is coming off a 23-7-5 game versus the Toronto Raptors, has been providing that spark recently.

A healthy Ben Simmons and a Joel Embiid locked and loaded to drop 50 at any given time make the Sixers a fun watch.

Plus, there’s always a 50 percent chance Luka and Boban Marjanovic might break into dance during pregame warmups. Come for that, stay for the highlights.
