The 76ers need a win to solidify their hold on the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference. They are in danger of giving up the top seed, following the trade deadline deals that made the Brooklyn Nets a lot stronger. The outrageous amount of talent acquired by the Nets helped them rise more quickly. Only ahead by a half game, Philadelphia has to cop a win to create a little more distance.
Fortunately, head coach Doc Rivers hinted that Joel Embiid’s return may be closer than expected, although he still won’t be available on Wednesday. Embiid has missed eight straight games this season due to a leg injury.
The 76ers took the absence well, claiming eight wins in their last 10 games, but having him on the court makes all the difference. They have coped well with Ben Simmons at the forefront, but the return of their big man will boost the team even further.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets have proven to be a tough contender especially after their big trades.
Following some momentous changes in their lineup, the Nuggets have made a lot of noise in the Western Conference. Aaron Gordon made sure his presence was felt with a 13-point debut against the Atlanta Hawks. Fans are also awaiting the debut of JaVale McGee, who returned to Denver by way of a Cleveland Cavaliers trade, as he could provide more help for MVP candidate Nikola Jokic. The Joker is still spewing marvelous numbers with 26.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 8.5 assists.
The Nuggets have finally gotten momentum going into the playoffs, winning 7 of their last 10 games that boosted them into the 5th seed. Once considered a good team with a bad record, Denver was able to build a roster that is expected to make a better run than last season.
