On the Lookout: Curry-less Warriors hope to repeat against Grizzlies

Without Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins dropped 40 to lead the Warriors to a victory over the Grizzlies today. Can they score back-to-back wins?

As the playoffs are slowly creeping in, the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies want to get ahead of the pack to secure a spot.

After their strong finish earlier today, the Warriors are walking in with a lot more confidence this time. Andrew Wiggins quickly filled in the shoes of Steph Curry who was out due to a tailbone contusion he sustained in a previous game.

Wiggins gave his team a lot to work with, knocking down 40 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Jordan Poole and Damion Lee also waxed hot as they combined for 46 points.

With Curry still expected to be out for tomorrow’s match, the Warriors need to continue what they did right to seal another crucial win. However, consistency has not been on their side all season.

The Warriors have struggled to play at a high level during back-to-back games. They have only won consecutive games twice this season and never against the same team.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies need to figure out a way to stop the Warriors’ other guys from producing.

With their game plan all messed up due to Curry’s absence, the team has gotten a little more time to adjust to the new lineup.

The Grizzlies also need to improve on their 3-point shooting if they want to outscore the Warriors, who are 8th in long-range shots made. In their match earlier, the Grizzlies only hit 8-of-26 or 30.8 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc.

All eyes will be on Ja Morant, who only made 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists in almost 30 minutes of play. In fact, no player  breached 15 points, which is something head coach Taylor Jenkins needs to address.

A win against the Warriors will put Memphis two games ahead of the Sacramento Kings, OKC Thunder, and New Orleans Pelicans who are all tied at No. 11 with 17 wins. Meanwhile, if Golden State gets the win, then they will crack the top 8, putting themselves in a better position to secure a playoff opportunity.
