Norman Powell is headed to South Beach. John Collins is Hollywood-bound. And the Utah Jazz continue their calculated teardown with a haul of veterans, a trade exception, and a future pick.
Powell is returning to the East Coast as the newest member of the Heat in a three-team trade that also sends Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers, while the Jazz received Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a 2027 second-round pick from the Clippers.

The deal marks another offseason shake-up among three franchises on very different timelines — with Miami trying to bounce back, the Clippers doubling down on veteran talent, and Utah pressing deeper into a rebuild.
Powell averaged a career-best 21.8 points per game last season with the Clippers while shooting 48.4% from the field and a blistering 41.8% clip from deep.
After years as one of the league’s most reliable sixth men, Powell thrived in a starting role for Los Angeles and briefly emerged as an All-Star candidate before suffering an injury after the All-Star break. His scoring dipped in the playoffs, but he still averaged 16 points while playing through nagging setbacks.
The 32-year-old joins a Heat squad that’s been in transition ever since trading Jimmy Butler to Golden State earlier this offseason.
Miami got swept in the first round by the East top seed Cleveland Cavaliers. With Duncan Robinson gone and no clear perimeter scorer off the bench, Powell gives Miami a dependable shot creator who fits the team’s tough, work-first culture.
For the Clippers, Collins brings athleticism and frontcourt scoring punch at a more flexible cost.
The 27-year-old forward averaged 19 points and 8.2 rebounds in 40 games with Utah last season, shooting 52.7% from the field and nearly 40% from beyond the arc — a key factor for a Clippers team that already boasts a frontline of Ivica Zubac and offseason signing Brook Lopez.
L.A. also re-signed superstar James Harden to a two-year, $81.5 million deal that includes a player option. The team brought back veteran forward Nicolas Batum as well.

We have re-signed 11-time All-Star James Harden!
Utah, meanwhile, continues to peel back layers of its post-Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert era.
In flipping Collins, the Jazz generated a $26.6 million trade exception, added a second-round pick, and took on two veterans in Love and Anderson, who both figure to contribute more off the court than on it.
A 2016 champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Love is entering his 18th season and is likely in the final stage of his career. The five-time All-Star averaged just 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in limited minutes for Miami last season.
Anderson logged 6.7 points in 25 games for the Heat after arriving from Golden State in the midseason Butler trade that also sent champion forward Andrew Wiggins to South Beach.
Miami also added swingman Davion Mitchell andSimone Fontecchio this offseason — part of a broader retooling effort around superstars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
