With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Jaylen Brown showed why he’s the reigning NBA Finals MVP.

Brown uncorked 36 points as the defending champion Boston Celtics took down the feisty Orlando Magic in Game 2, 109-100, to seize a commanding 2-0 lead in their East opening round showdown, Thursday (PH time), April 24.

The 28-year-old recorded his 14th career 30-point playoff game on the night Tatum missed his first career playoff game due to a bone bruise in his right wrist.

Brown grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out five assists, and hit five threes in 42 minutes of play.

Kristaps Porzingis shrugged off a bloodied forehead off an inadvertent elbow from Goga Bitadze late in the third period to chip in a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Derrick White and newly crowned NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner Payton Pritchard combined for 31 markers and six treys.

Games 3 and 4 of the series will be in Orlando.

Meanwhile, Paolo Banchero recorded a team-high 32 points alongside nine rebounds and seven assists to pace the Magic in a losing effort.

Franz Wagner contributed 21 markers, but Orlando shot just 7-for-29 from three.
