Coast-to-Coast: Cooper Flagg makes triumphant Summer League debut; Jamaree Bouyea game-winner sinks Nuggets

Timberwolves’ French rookie Joan Beringer made an impressive Summer League debut in Las Vegas, posting seven blocks to go with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Top pick Cooper Flagg gave the Dallas Mavericks — and the entire NBA world — a glimpse of his potential.

Despite struggling with his shot, Flagg made key plays on both ends of the floor in a winning debut for the Mavericks at the Las Vegas Summer League in a stacked seven-game slate that also featured several standout performances. 


FLAGG DELIVERS IN CLUTCH FOR MAVS; BUCKS' BOUYEA, TIMEBRWOLVES' BERINGER IMPRESS

  • Dallas Mavericks (1-0) def. LA Lakers (0-1), 87-85: Despite struggling offensively, top overall pick Cooper Flagg made the biggest plays down the stretch for a triumphant Summer League at expense of Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Flagg, who finished with 10 points but shot just 5-for-21 overall, blocked DJ Steward before setting-up a clutch Ryan Nembhard three that put the Dallas Mavericks ahead for good.

  • Milwaukee Bucks (1-0) def. Denver Nuggets (0-1), 87-85: Jamaree Bouyea drained a game-winning three-pointer as time expired, lifting the Bucks to a thrilling Summer League victory over the Nuggets.

With 5.1 seconds remaining, Bouyea caught the inbound pass, drove right, stepped back, faked, and calmly sank the clutch three over the outstretched arms of EJ Liddell.

  • Indiana Pacers (1-0) def. Cleveland Cavaliers (0-1), 116-115: The Pacers erased a 10-point deficit in the final 3:49 of regulation to stun the Cavaliers.

RayJ Dennis unloaded a team-high 26 points, while Quenton Jackson contributed 24 markers on just 10 shots for Indiana, who closed the game on a 17-6 run to complete the dramatic comeback.

  • OKC Thunder (1-0) def. Brooklyn Nets (0-1), 90-81: Nikola Topic, Ajay Mitchell, and Chris Youngblood joined forces to propel the Thunder past the Nets for a winning Summer League start in Sin City.

Mitchell scored 20 points, Youngblood added 19, and Topic contributed an all-around performance with 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

  • Sacramento Kings (1-0) def. Orlando Magic (0-1), 84-81: Rookies Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud made strong impressions in their Summer League debuts, scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively, in a narrow Kings win over the Magic.

  • Minnesota Timberwolves (1-0) def. New Orleans Pelicans (0-1), 98-91: Leonard Miller and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 20 points, fueling a strong outing for the Timberwolves in their Summer League Las Vegas opener.

French rookie Joan Beringer impressed in his debut, registering 11 points, eight rebounds, and seven blocks.

  • San Antonio Spurs (1-0) def. Philadelphia  76ers (0-1), 111-70: Despite the absences of no. 2 and 3 picks Dylan Harper and VJ Edgecombe, the Spurs handled business against the Sixers behind a ruthless 31-point beating.  

David Jones-Garcia paced four double-digit Spur scorers with 24 points as San Antonio broke the game wide open after a riveting 34-12 start and never looked back.
