KD stars in Suns win, top pick Zaccharie Risacher impresses in preseason debut for Hawks

The Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, and the Los Angeles Clippers emerged as victors on Day 5 of the 2024 NBA preseason.

Business as usual for Kevin Durant. 

The Slim Reaper fired 21 points on just 12 shots, four other Suns players scored in double digits, as the Phoenix rolled past the Detroit Pistons, 105-97, and into their second-straight NBA preseason win. 

 


No.1 pick Zaccharie Risacher solid in first preseason game as a Hawk 

It was a triumphant preseason debut for the reigning no. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. 

Risacher impressed with 18 points, Seth Lundy hit the game-winner, and time expired as the new-look Atlanta Hawks squeezed past the Indiana Pacers, 131-130. 

The French rookie came off the bench and added three rebounds and two assists on a solid 7-for-9 shooting including three triples. 

Jalen Johnson led the way for Atlanta with 19 points, while Pascal Siakam tallied 15 markers, three boards and four dimes for the Pacers. 

Up next for the Hawks are the Philadelphia 76ers, while Indiana squares off next against the Cleveland Cavaliers. 


Hornets, Bulls, and Clippers get first preseason wins

LaMelo Ball dazzled with 24 points, six rebounds, and four assists to help the Charlotte Hornets beat the Miami Heat, 111-108. 

 

The Hornets bounced back quickly after a 111-109 defeat against the New York Knicks with Ball leading the charge anew. 

Bam Adebayo and Kel'el Ware each scored 13 markers to banner the Heat, who will meet the New Orleans Pelicans in their next game. 

 

Meanwhile, Coby White and Chicago Bulls also barged into the NBA preseason winning column following a 116-112 dub over the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

 

In Brooklyn, James Harden poured 14 points and the LA Clippers nabbed their win behind a 115-106 dub against the Nets.

Keon Johnson had 14 markers off the bench for Brooklyn, who dropped their  preseason opener and will face the Washington Wizards next.

Up next for the Clippers are the Portland Trail Blazers.
