It’s only fitting that Luka Doncic’s first trip-dub as a Los Angeles Laker came against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks used to watch Luka Doncic drop triple-doubles on a consistent basis.

How the tables have turned this time around.

Doncic dropped his first trip-dub outing in nearly two months, spearheading the Lakers in staving off a late Dallas Mavericks rally, 107-99, Wednesday, February 26.

The Slovenian star finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists on top of three steals in his first game against the team he spent seven-and-a-half seasons with. It also marked Luka's first triple-double wearing the Purple and Gold uniform.

LeBron James added a solid 27-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Austin Reaves chipped 20 for LA’s third win in a row to improve to 35-21.

Anthony Davis, who was another major piece of the league-lettering trade that sent Doncic to LA, did not play due to a groin injury, but received a tribute video from the team he helped win a title in 2020.

Kyrie Irving paced the Mavericks with a team-high 35 points while Klay Thompson logged 22 more, but Dallas (31-28) lost their second straight.

The Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves (32-27) in the second of a six-game home stand, while the Mavericks return home to host the Charlotte Hornets (14-43).
