Fourth time’s the charm for Jaren Jackson Jr. and the gritty Memphis Grizzlies.

Jackson Jr. nailed the game-winning free throws with 8.1 seconds left, spearheading the Grizzlies’ first win over the Houston Rockets this season via a thrilling 120-119 escape for a fifth straight home win, Friday, January 31.

The former Defensive Player of the Year finished with 21 points on the same night he was named as an All-Star for the second time in his career. Memphis finally got the victory over Houston after falling in their first three meetings.

Desmond Bane continued to flourish in his scoring playmaker role behind a 24-point, 12-assist double-double while Luke Kennard chipped in. Star guard Ja Morant missed the game due to a shoulder injury.

Jalen Green paced the Rockets with 25 points as Houston saw their four-game winning run ended. Big man Alperen Sengun, who got selected as an All-Star as a reserve for the first time in his career, did not play.

The Rockets return home to host the Brooklyn Nets (15-33) while the Grizzlies travel to Milwaukee to battle the Bucks (26-19).
