Minnesota set a franchise-record for most points in a quarter, and the Timberwolves forced a three-way tie for sixth with the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in the West.

Anthony Edwards made sure there will be no major collapse on the road again for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Edwards shot the lights out with 44 points as the Timberwolves banked on a scorching third quarter to zap the Grizzlies, 141-125, snapping Memphis' three-game winning run, Friday, April 11.

The 23-year-old superstar recorded his eight 40-point game of the season on top of seven threes and five rebounds in a much-needed Minnesota bounce back.

That 52-24 third-quarter avalanche saw Minnesota make 18 field goals and just miss three attempts, with Edwards putting up 18 markers in that period alone.

Julius Randle added a solid 31-point, 10-rebound double-double as the Timberwolves responded after blowing a 24-point, fourth quarter lead in a deflating loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

As it stands, Golden State (47-33) holds the tiebreaker over the now-no. 7 Memphis and still eighth-ranked Minnesota to occupy the West sixth seed.

Meanwhile, Ja Morant ended up with a team-high 36 points for while Desmond Bane chipped in 28 more and Jaren Jackson Jr. added 23 markers.

The Timberwolves return home to face the Brooklyn Nets (26-54) while the Grizzlies travel to Denver to lock horns against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets (48-32).
