Alperen Sengun sank the game-winning free throws in a nail-biting 109-108 Rockets escape over the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers, Wednesday, January 23.

Houston saw its 13-point fourth quarter lead disappear after Cleveland launched a 19-0 run to snatch the lead at 104-98.

The Cavaliers actually had two chances to win the game, but Darius Garland missed two of his three free throws after getting clipped from the three-point arc with 2.4 seconds left.

In the last possession of the game, Donovan Mitchell’s potential game-winning attempt rimmed out that sealed a wild Rockets win.

Fred VanVleet paced Houston (28-15) with 26 markers while Garland also had 26 in an intense point guard battle between the two.

Cleveland visits the Philadelphia 76ers (15-27) next while Houston faces the Cavaliers in a rematch, but this time in Northeast Ohio.
