The Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks were the second and third-most searched sports teams in 2021. The Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, and Atlanta Hawks also made the top 10.
As far as Twitter is concerned, LeBron James was the most tweeted about male athlete of the year. The late Kobe Bryant and Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets came in as the third and fourth most tweeted male athletes.
The Lakers were the most tweeted about team, while the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers were part of the top 10.
Included in the top five most-tweeted sporting events were this year's NBA Draft and NBA Finals, which featured the Bucks and Suns.
In the WNBA landscape, people tweeted the most about the Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury—the two teams who made the finals.
