The long-anticipated deal, more than four years in the making, also includes the G League affiliate Iowa Wolves and marks the end of Glen Taylor’s 30-year run as majority owner.
“We’re honored to lead the Timberwolves and Lynx into a bold and exciting new era,” Lore said in a statement.
Founder of some e-commerce companies like Jet.com and Wonder, the 54-year-old brings will serve as governor of the Timberwolves and alternate governor for the Lynx.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, takes the opposite roles — alternate governor for the Timberwolves and governor for the Lynx.
“Sports has always been more than a game for me — it’s a force that brings people together,” Rodriguez, a 14-time MLB All-Star and 2009 World Series champion said.
He added: “I know what it takes to build a winning culture, and I’m ready to roll up my sleeves in Minnesota.”
Under Taylor’s reign, the Timberwolves reached the playoffs 13 times and made three Western Conference Finals appearances, including back-to-back trips in 2024 and 2025.
Meanwhile, the Lynx — four-time WNBA champions — are currently leading the 2024-25 WNBA season with a 12-2 record. They reached the Finals last year but fell to the eventual champions, the New York Liberty.
