Sami Whitcomb isn’t ready to fade quietly.

At 37 years old, the two-time WNBA champion buried the biggest shot of Phoenix’s season—a cold-blooded triple with 4.3 seconds left in regulation that forced overtime and breathed new life into the Mercury.

That clutch moment capped a furious rally from 20 points down, as Phoenix stunned the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx, 89-83, in Game 2 of the semifinals to even the series at 1-1.

Whitcomb’s dagger denied birthday girl Napheesa Collier her chance at a storybook finish, as the Lynx star misfired on a potential game-winner at the buzzer.

From there, momentum shifted to Phoenix.

In overtime, Kahleah Copper nailed a corner three to push the Mercury ahead 85-79, and they never looked back.

Satou Sabally finished with 24 points and nine rebounds while Alyssa Thomas orchestrated with 19 points, 13 assists, and eight boards, while Whitcomb’s added 13 markers off the bench.

Collier still paced Minnesota with 24 points, alongside Courtney Williams’ 21 and Kayla McBride’s 20.

But after holding a 59-39 lead late in the third quarter, the Lynx crumbled, outscored 57-35 the rest of the way to take their first playoff loss of 2025.

The series now shifts to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4.
