BANGKOK — Filipino fans of Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving might have to wait just a little more to see him walk the streets of Manila as the 32-year-old came to Thailand for the only Southeast Asian stop in his ongoing tour for sports brand ANTA.

Irving, who had never been to Southeast Asia before, touched down here on Sunday night and began his festivities with a private yacht dinner party with family and friends, along with representatives of the brand.

The 2024 NBA Western Conference champion was initially in China for the Asia leg of the tour before going to Thailand.

Irving’s visit to Thailand comes before an elusive stop in the Philippines after he previously expressed his desire to visit the country by next year.

His comments came after Philippine artist Maya Carandang made a mural of the guard in a basketball court in La Union where he also invited Irving to come to the Philippines.

Appreciating the gesture, Irving commented on Carandang’s post on Instagram where he promised a visit to the country next year.

“All I needed was an invite. Next year for sure. Thank you for the LOVE. This is Legendary,” wrote Irving.

But before the NBA star can even think about coming to the Philippines, he is set to go through an array of activities in Bangkok.

Irving is expected to visit the store’s pop up booth in centralwOrld in the city center where he will get to interact with local fans.

Apart from being a brand ambassador, Irving also serves as Chief Creative Officer of ANTA. During this tour, he’s currently promoting his products – highlighted by a new shoe in his signature line.
