Irving was on fire in his return to Barclays Center after a year of getting traded, as he scored 36 points over his former team. He landed in Dallas after the Nets honored his trade request.
He shot 15-of-24 and made 6-of-10 three-pointers. The star guard also scored 21 points in the first half, which allowed the Mavericks to gain a big lead in the matchup.
Doncic added 35 more points, along with 18 rebounds, nine assists, and two steals.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (14 points) and Josh Green (12 points) were the two other Mavericks in double digits.Kyrie and Luka were a dynamic duo in tonight's win over Brooklyn 🔥

Mikal Bridges produced 28 points and Royce O’Neal had 18 for the short-handed Nets, who cut down a 23-point deficit to 107-101 about five minutes before Irving hit two 3-pointers to keep the Nets at bay, 113-101. Ben Simmons contributed nine points, nine rebounds, and seven assists after being sidelined in the loss to Golden State last Monday.
What he said
A video of a Brooklyn fan went viral when he jokingly asked Kyrie why he didn’t play like this when he was in Brooklyn. We don’t doubt he’s just having fun playing back in his former home arena.
Nets fan: "Kyrie why don't play like this when you were on the Nets? Why Kai?"
Irving: "Thank Mayor [Eric] Adams for that, bro."
