For the second straight season, LeBron James and Kevin Durant will serve as NBA All-Star team captains.

The starters of the 2022 Eastern and Western Conference All-Star teams were revealed on Friday (PHT).

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, who has been averaging 29.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists this season, was named team captain of the East All-Stars.

Durant will be joined by Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), DeMar DeRozan (Chicago Bulls), and Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks) for the East's starting five.

Meanwhile, LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), who is averaging 28.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists, was named team captain for the West. James will serve as All-Star captain for the fifth straight season.

Completing the West starters are Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), Ja Morant (Memphis Grizzlies), and Andrew Wiggins (Golden State Warriors).

Morant and Wiggins made the All-Star team for the first time in their careers.

There were three voting groups that determined the All-Star starters:

  • Fans (50%)
  • NBA players (25%)
  • Media panel (25%)

The overall scores for each position can be seen below:

The All-Star reserves—seven players each for East and West—will be announced on Feb. 4.

Team captains James and Durant will then draft the All-Star Game rosters from the pool of players who were voted as starters and reserves from each conference.

The 2022 NBA All-Star festivities will be televised across free-to-air channels TV5 and One Sports, as well as NBA TV Philippines (available on Smart's GigaPlay app and Cignal TV).
