Jimmy Alapag got his first taste of NBA success after the Sacramento Kings dominated the Boston Celtics, 100-67, to claim the Summer League championship on Wednesday (PHT).
The Kings, who finished the tournament with a 5-0 record, got a game-high 21 points from Louis King who was named MVP of the championship game. Jahmi'us Ramsey chipped in 16 for Sacramento, which won its first Summer League title since 2014.
Alapag is part of the Kings coaching staff, which is led by former Kings player Bobby Jackson. It was his second Summer League stint with Sacramento after joining them in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
Filipino fans and members of the local sports community praised Alapag for winning the title as an assistant coach.
