Jaren Jackson Jr. isn’t going anywhere—because Memphis made sure he never had to think about it.
The former Defensive Player of the Year has agreed to a five-year $240 million extension that will keep one of the league’s premier two-way big men in Memphis through at least the 2029–30 NBA season.
Senior NBA insider Shams Charania was the first to report the agreement.

Jackson Jr. has emerged as a cornerstone for the Grizzlies and a consistent force on both ends of the floor. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals across 74 games last season while being selected as an All-Star for just the second time in the last three years.
The 25-year-old became the only player in league history to record four consecutive seasons with at least 100 blocks and 100 made three-pointers. He also led the league in made floaters with 155.
Known for his versatility and leadership, the former fourth overall pick out of Michigan State has steadily developed into one of the league's most unique talents—capable of guarding all five positions and spacing the floor on offense.
The move further solidifies Memphis’ long-term foundation, with both Jackson and fellow franchise star Ja Morant under contract through the 2027–28 season.
Earlier, they traded away Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and draft capital.
