Madison Square Garden has always been the place for NBA Legends to make a statement. From Michael Jordan scoring 55 in his return to Kobe Bryant’s then-record 61-point performance, the lights shine brightly at MSG and real ones embrace it. LeBron James has been no different. Too bad he won't be on the floor when the Lakers head to the Garden for the first and only time this season.
Regardless, Anthony Davis and the rest of the crew will be looking to carry over the momentum from their previous win to get over that .500 hump. But a feisty and competitive Knicks squad – backed by the home crowd – would surely make it difficult for the LeBron-less Lakers.
Battle of stud sophomores
Timberwolves vs. Hornets: Nov. 27, 8:00 AM on NBA League Pass
This early, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards have proven that they are not a fluke. They have both been impactful to their teams and provided a jolt of excitement that both fan bases have been dying to witness over the past few years.
In this matchup, they will go head-to-head to help settle the question of which sophomore has been playing at a higher level. Antman has had head-turning scoring performances, while Ball has created perfect synergy with teammates Miles Bridges and Gordon Hayward, which elevated their game and put the Hornets firmly in the playoff picture. It should be a treat to see these two young stars go at it.
Young stars come out to shine
Hawks vs. Grizzlies: Nov. 27, 9:00 AM on NBA TV Philippines
The future of the NBA will be on display once again as elite guards Ja Morant and Trae Young look to lead their squads. The ways that Morant and Young play basketball make them such a compelling watch.
Morant plays with ferocity, attacking the rim that leaves everyone’s mouths hanging open. He’s also gotten better at shooting the 3, as he is now over 30 percent from the field this season. Young, on the other hand, is a product of the modern NBA game. He’s basically unguardable when he has the ball in his hands because of his ability to shoot from anywhere on the floor, plus the threat of finding his teammates for easy lobs at the rim.
Both Ja and Trae are two of the most irresistible and entertaining players this season and their matchup is definitely a must-see.
Beasts of the East
Heat vs. Bulls: Nov. 28, 9:00 AM on TV5
While the Chicago Bulls continue to shock the NBA world by climbing the Eastern Conference standings, the Miami Heat have had their ups and downs yet still look like a true contender. This is the first time that these two teams, which were active in the offseason, will lock horns in what could be a potential playoff series down the road.
The high-scoring duo of Zach Lavine and DeMar DeRozan will definitely make Heat defenders Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler work for every stop. Hold onto your hats because this could be an old-school ‘90s style slobber knocker.
