The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will begin Aug. 25 with 32 countries from around the world competing for the coveted Naismith trophy and a shot at national glory. The tournament, which runs from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10, is being held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
The FIBA World Cup will once again showcase the NBA’s growing global representation. The winners of the last five Kia MVPs are each international stars — Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid (Cameroon), Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic (Serbia) and Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece). Additionally, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama (France), the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, could be the NBA’s next big international talent.
