Two Western Conference playoff contenders collide as the Phoenix Suns visit the Golden State  Warriors at 10:00 AM on NBA League Pass.

What’s up with the Warriors?

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a thrilling victory at home versus the Milwaukee Bucks. Steph Curry starred with 36 points and was clutch against the East powerhouse. He scored 22 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as he provided timely buckets for his squad.

Curry, whose birthday is coming up on Wednesday, is still playing at an elite level. After missing a month due to a lower leg injury, he seems back to his old self. He’s scored at least 27 points in his last four games, including a 40-point outing versus the OKC Thunder when he shot 60.9 percent from the field and drained 10 triples.

The Warriors are currently clinging on to the sixth seed in the West with a 35-33 record. They’ve been tremendous at home, winning their last seven games at the Chase Center and 28-7 overall. They need all the wins they can get at home, especially with their disappointing 7-26 road record.

What’s up with the Suns?

Kevin Durant remains out for the new-look Suns. The former league MVP got injured during warmups last week in what would have been his home opener in Phoenix. He has played three games so far in his new Suns new uniform, highlighted by his 37-point explosion against the Dallas Mavericks. It’s unfortunate that Durant will miss the matchup against his former teammates whom he won two titles with.

The Suns, who sit fourth in the West sporting a 37-30 card, recently lost to the surging Sacramento Kings. Looking at the standings, it’s going to be a tight race for the fourth, fifth, and sixth seeds by the Suns, Warriors, and LA Clippers. Not to mention the Minnesota Timberwolves who are on the outside looking in for that guaranteed playoff spot.

Phoenix owns the season series against Golden State, having won their first three previous meetings. The Suns even won at Chase Center in their last visit to San Francisco with Mikal Bridges leading the way with 26 points. Bridges, of course, won’t be part of Tuesday’s game as he was part of the trade package that allowed Phoenix to land Durant.

Will Curry and company finally win one against Phoenix or will the Suns continue their mastery over the Warriors?
