There’s nothing better than a full day of hoops. In Monday’s case, it’s a full slate of basketball starting in the wee hours of the night.
Nets looking to continue mastery over Knicks
The Brooklyn Nets have won the last five meetings against their neighborhood rival New York Knicks, including the last two this season. The previous encounter in February was a particularly brutal loss for the Knicks and an inspired victory for the Nets.
Without any of their stars, the Nets rallied back from a 28-point hole to stun the Knicks, matching their largest comeback in franchise history. In that meeting, Kevin Durant was still nursing a sprained MCL, but rookie Cam Thomas starred when he scored 16 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Durant has been back in the lineup and he’s showing no rust from his 21-game absence.
The Knicks, meanwhile, have had a recurring problem of not being able to close out games. There has been an unfortunate pattern of New York holding double-digit leads, before allowing opponents to come roaring back. The lack of execution in the endgame was evident once again in the Knicks’ previous game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Knicks collapsed in the fourth period, blowing a 15-point lead as the Grizzlies outscored them 31-18.
Will the Nets continue their dominance over the Knicks? Or will Julius Randle and company find a way to sustain their play till the final buzzer sounds and get the win?
Ja Morant and the Grizzlies head to Oklahoma
In case you didn’t catch that early morning game between the Knicks and the Nets, you can watch the NBA’s rising star. Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have taken the league by storm. It’s as if the team is ready to come up with a brand new highlight every game that we haven’t seen before.
But you’re probably thinking, “Hey, isn’t OKC the team that got blown out of the water by the Grizzlies? Do I really want to watch that again?” Well, you're right. The Grizzlies set a league record for the largest margin of victory with their eye-popping 152-79 victory back in early December. There were a lot of points and a ton of garbage time. However, the Thunder did manage to pull out a 102-99 win later that month. So that's worth something heading into their third matchup of the season.
The Thunder have been plagued with several injuries and that factored into their four-game losing streak. Oklahoma will suffer another losing season, but you can bet that the team won’t allow themselves to get destroyed by 73 points.
