The 2022 WNBA All-Star Game is upon us! As in every season, there’s no shortage in star power in the upcoming game featuring some of the best players on the planet.
We’ve got some first-time All-Stars, veterans, and of course, legends. It’s going to officially be the last All-Star game for Sue Bird and Sylvia Fowles, and that alone should be a compelling reason for tuning in.
Last year, Team WNBA defeated Team USA, 93-85, with Arike Ogunbowale scoring 26 points and earning MVP honors.
Here’s everything you need to know about the festivities happening in Chicago.
Schedule
The AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be played Monday, July 11 at 1:00 AM (PHT).
WNBA All-Star game rosters
Top vote-getters A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm’s Breanna Stewart are the captains of the two squads. Bird and Fowles were appointed as co-captains while the rest of the starters were voted by fans, current WNBA players, and the media. The reserves, meanwhile, were picked by the coaches.
Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon will call the shots for Team Wilson while Chicago Sky coach James Wade will man the sidelines for Team Stewart. Both Hammon and Wade will coach the All-Star Game for the first time.
A special draft was done to finalize the two teams with Sky’s Candace Parker selected first overall by Wilson. For Stewart’s first pick, she picked Las Vegas guard Jackie Young.
Two trades went down after the draft as Los Angeles Sparks’ Nneka Ogwumuike was swapped for Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty and co-captains Bird and Fowles switched places.
Team Wilson:
A’ja Wilson (Aces), Sylvia Fowles (Lynx), Candace Parker (Sky), Kelsey Plum (Aces), Sabrina Ionescu (Liberty), Rhyne Howard (Dream), Dearica Hamby (Aces), Courtney Vandersloot (Sky), Ariel Atkins (Mystics), Brionna Jones (Sun), Natasha Howard (Liberty)

Britney Griner was named an honorary All-Star by league commissioner Cathy Engelbert. The Mercury center is still detained in Russia as fans all over the world continue to hope for her quick and safe return.
WNBA 3-point Contest
Chicago native Allie Quigley made history and captured her fourth 3-point title – the most by any player from either the NBA or WNBA. The Sky sharpshooter previously won the event in 2017, 2018, and 2021.
Quigley scored a record-setting 30 points in the final round, edging Washington’s Ariel Atkins and Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard.
WNBA Skills Challenge
Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu won the skills challenge alongside teammate Zoe Brooks, an NC State commit.
The eight teams in the skills challenge featured one WNBA player paired with one athlete from the Elite Youth Basketball League of the 2022 Nike Nationals. The teams competed in an obstacle course that features skills of dribbling, passing, agility, and shooting.
