Trouble in paradise?

Olympics host France is limping into the men’s basketball competition of Paris 2024 as the Australia Boomers silence Les Bleus by way of a loud 83-82 win in the last of the France Preparation Games.

Dyson Daniels, now an Atlanta Hawk after the New Orleans Pelicans acquired Dejounte Murray, hit the go-ahead layup for Australia to make it 83-82 with one second to go in their exhibition in the French city of Orleans.

NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama had one shot to give victory to France, but he missed a contested three at the buzzer.

The result highlights the contrasting roads for both France and Australia heading into the Olympics, which start this week.

France has lost four straight preparation games, their exhibition results not exactly looking inspiring of a gold medal run in their home city.

Meanwhile, the Boomers have been booming, now winners of three straight after a close loss to Team USA in the USA Basketball Showcase.

Patty Mills fired 24 points for Australia in the win against France, while Josh Giddey was good for 20 points, six rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Game hero Daniels had 14 points, five assists, and five steals. Wembanyama had 17 points and 12 rebounds for France.
