Golden State will be without its star forward until he can clear protocols.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has entered the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols, per the team injury report.

Protocols, freshly shortened to match CDC recommendations, require players to be sidelined at least six days or record two negative COVID-19 tests in a 24-hour period before they can resume basketball activities.

Green had eight rebounds, 10 assists, three steals along with three blocks in the Warriors’ thrilling 116-107 victory against the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day.

The three-time NBA champion continues to be a defensive force this season, helping the Warriors reach the No. 1 spot in defensive rating with Green averaging 6.8 defensive rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks. And while Green may not rank among the top spots for individual stats, he explains why blocks & steals alone don’t make for great defenders in an exclusive Q&A with NBA.com.

The Warriors, who will have Andrew Wiggins out of the protocols after eight days away, return home on Tuesday when they host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
