Coast-to-Coast: Thunder, Cavaliers stamp class as best teams in the NBA

A tight six-game slate for the NBA, but the top teams showed out as the tiers start to get firmly established in this 2024-25 season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to lord over both conferences, stretching their impressive win streaks with strong wins.


THUNDER, CAVS STAMP THEIR CLASS AS LEAGUE LEADERS

  • Oklahoma City Thunder (30-5) def. Boston Celtics (26-10), 105-92: In the premier matchup of the day, the Thunder surged to a huge fourth quarter to silence the champion Celtics. OKC has won 15th straight, a franchise record.


  • Cleveland Cavaliers (31-4) def. Charlotte Hornets (7-27), 115-105: The Cleveland Cavaliers win their 10th straight, keeping the NBA’s best record by a slim margin.

Cleveland vs. Oklahoma City is up next for both teams, and both conference leaders will meet twice in the next week and a half.


  • Houston Rockets (23-12) def. Los Angeles Lakers (20-15), 119-115: The Houston Rockets lost a 22-point lead, but had enough to hold off the Lakers to keep no. 2 in the West.


  • New Orleans Pelicans (7-29) def. Washington Wizards (6-27), 110-98: A triple-double from Dejounte Murray fuels the Pelicans win as the two worst teams from each conference squared off.


  • Utah Jazz (9-25) def. Orlando Magic (21-16), 105-92: The Utah Jazz win back-to-back games with an upset of the Magic in Orlando.


  • Sacramento Kings (17-19) def. Golden State Warriors (18-17), 129-99: Kings win their fourth straight with a thorough beatdown of the Warriors in San Francisco.
