Coast-to-Coast: Dalton Knecht anchors gutsy Lakers comeback; Jazz cap off Salt Lake City Summer League unscathed

Judah Mintz and Kira Lewis Jr. stepped up in a big way, leading the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat to victories in the 2025 Salt Lake City and California Classic editions of the NBA Summer League, respectively.

Darius Bazley and Dalton Knecht sparked a gutsy fourth-quarter comeback for the LA Lakers on the same night the Utah Jazz capped their Salt Lake City Summer League run with a perfect 3-0 record. 


LAKERS STAGE LATE COMEBACK; JAZZ FINISH 3-0 IN SUMMER LEAGUE - SALT LAKE CITY EDITION

  • LA Lakers (2-1) def. San Antonio Spurs (1-2), 89-88: Darius Bazley and Dalton Knecht scored 17 of the Lakers’ final 20 points to complete a rousing comeback at the Spurs’ expense.

Bazley sealed the victory with a go-ahead slam with 13 seconds remaining, finishing with 27 points, while Knecht poured in 28 points — including four threes — and grabbed eight rebounds for Los Angeles.

  • Utah Jazz (3-0) def. OKC Thunder (1-2), 86-82: Despite missing No. 5 pick Ace Bailey, the Jazz finished with a perfect Salt Lake City Summer League run to 3-0 with a convincing win over the Thunder.

Rookie Walter Clayton Jr. stepped up with 20 points and four assists, while Kyle Filipowski delivered a strong double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, along with three assists and two blocks.

  • Philadelphia 76ers (1-2) def. Memphis Grizzlies (11-7), 91-90: Judah Mintz continued his strong showing, scoring 26 points as the Sixers closed out their Salt Lake City Summer League slate with a narrow win over the Grizzlies.

Mintz shot 9-of-15 from the field and added three steals and three assists in just 29 minutes, following up his 21-point performance against the Thunder with another impressive 20-piece. 

  • Miami Heat (2-1) def. Golden State Warriors (1-2), 93-79: Kira Lewis Jr. led a balanced offensive effort as the Heat closed out their California Classic campaign on a high, taking down the Warriors.

Lewis Jr. fired a team-high 16 points, while Keshad Johnson and Pelle Larsson each added 15. Marcus Williams and Vladislav Goldin chipped in 10 apiece.
