All of these developments were initially reported by senior NBA insider Shams Charania.
Niang now heads to Utah just a month after being acquired by Boston in a three-team trade that sent champion big man Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks.

The 32-year-old journeyman previously spent four seasons with the Jazz and appeared in 79 games split between the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers last season, averaging a career-high 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
While parting ways with Niang, the Celtics strengthened their frontcourt with the addition of Boucher.
A member of Toronto’s 2019 championship team, the 32-year-old Boucher has averaged 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 407 career games. His best season came in 2020-21, when he posted career-high numbers of 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks while shooting 51.4% from the field.
Boucher also departs Toronto as the franchise's all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, minutes, and games played off the bench.
In addition to Boucher, the Celtics acquired an intriguing prospect in Luis. Despite being named Big East Player of the Year, Luis went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The 22-year-old had an impressive final season at St. John’s, where he averaged 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Red Storm.
Earlier, Boston also traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal that involved Anfernee Simons.
