Isaiah Thomas - PG, Los Angeles Lakers
11.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.7 apg, 26 mpg
Who doesn’t like a good comeback story? IT is back in the league after a great showing for USA Basketball and a short stint in the G League. With the Los Angeles Lakers still looking for consistent firepower off the bench, IT has a proven track record of getting buckets at a high rate. Malik Monk is still out due to COVID-19 protocols, giving IT a little more time to prove his worth in LA.
Coby White - PG SG, Chicago Bulls
7.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.5 apg, 19 mpg
White is one of a handful of young players I was expecting to have a great season. Injuries, protocols, and new additions have hindered his progress. However, the former first-round pick seems to be finding his flow. With Alex Caruso out, White looks to get meaningful minutes for a Bulls team that has been impressive so far this season.
Sandro Mamukelashvili
3.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 44.4 % FG, 11 mpg
This one might be a bit of a reach, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis coming back soon. But Sandro (I’ll just stick with the first name moving forward) can do a little bit of everything on the court, allowing him to fill up a stat sheet on any given night. With eyes focused on Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton, guys like Sandro can really benefit on the offensive end of the court.
Hassan Whiteside
7.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.4 bpg, 61% FG
I’ve taken my fair share of fantasy losses by the smallest of margins, but a player like Whiteside could give you that close victory. Don’t look at the totals but look at the percentages. Highly efficient from the paint and a surprisingly decent free throw shooter, Whiteside can give more than just blocks and rebounds in the world of fantasy hoops. He has seemed to find a flow in the second group, backing up reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert.
