When the Phoenix Mercury needed their stars most, the “Big Three” answered the call.

Satou Sabally, Alyssa Thomas, and Kahleah Copper powered the Mercury to a decisive 84-76 win over the Minnesota Lynx in the pivotal Game 3 that gave Phoenix a 2-1 series lead in the WNBA semifinals.

Sabally scored 23 points, while Thomas and Copper also added 21 each as the Mercury moved within one win of their first Finals appearance since 2021.

With their stars carrying the offense, Phoenix also locked in defensively, holding top-seeded Minnesota to just nine points in the fourth quarter.

Game 4 is set for Monday, September 29, with the Mercury aiming to close out the series at home.

Natisha Hiedeman led the Lynx with 19 points off the bench, while Napheesa Collier added 17 before exiting late after twisting her ankle on a drive.

After winning the series opener at home, Minnesota has now dropped two straight and faces a must-win to keep its season alive.
