In what could be the defining shot of his career so far, Luka Doncic has his Dallas Mavericks halfway into a breakthrough NBA Finals appearance.

Luka’s booming go-ahead triple pushed the Mavericks to a pulsating 109-108 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday (PHL), taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Western Conference Finals.

Matched up with four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, Doncic took the one-on-one and drilled the clutch triple for the lead and the win, completing an 18-point comeback for the Mavericks.

Luka finished with a triple-double of 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists, giving Dallas its best chance to return to the NBA Finals since the team’s 2011 championship run.

Kyrie Irving added 20 points for the Mavs, while Daniel Gafford (16 points), Dereck Lively II (14 points), and PJ Washington (10 points) likewise finished in double figures.

For Minnesota, 6th Man of the Year Naz Reid led the way with 23 points, including shooting 7/9 from three. However, he missed the final triple at the buzzer for the Wolves.

Four of five starters scored in double figures for the Timberwolves as well, with Anthony Edwards leading the pack with 21 points in the losing effort.
